Benefits of Rice Water for the Skin

In today’s busy life, no one has the time to visit a salon for skincare services. To make our skin refreshing and glowing even in the harsh summer, proper skincare is needed. Many women around us, whether they are working or not, avoid skincare. That makes their skin look dull and unrefreshed. However, some people still prep their skin without using any harsh chemicals. If you also want to know the secret behind glowing skin, try applying rice water. Its immense benefits for the skin make it the favourite of many women who prepare rice water at home for healthy and rejuvenated skin

You can easily prepare rice water at home by storing the leftover water when cooking rice. Nowadays, rice water is gaining popularity as a skin treatment. Some of its benefits include toning up the skin and improving different skin conditions. Let’s discuss the rice water’s benefits for the skin in detail.

Explaining the Rice Water Benefits for Skin

Helps in Skin Lightening

Many dermatologists recommend applying rice water to the skin. Many skincare products, including toner and serum, contain rice water.

Some people recommended rice water for lightening the skin. The chemicals in the rice water are known to cause skin lightening, but there’s no evidence on how effective they are.

Benefits for Face

Fragmented rice water helps remove the suntan from the skin. Fragmented rice water increases collagen production, which helps make the skin supple and wrinkle-free. It also works as a natural sunscreen barrier. Many studies also show that this water provides anti-ageing benefits due to its antioxidant properties.

Smooth Out Dry Skin

Rice water helps fight sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS). This ingredient is easily found in commercial products and causes skin irritation. By applying rice water twice a day, you can help your skin that can be dry or damaged due to SLS.

Reduce Acne and Pigmentation

Many people use rice water toner or masks twice a week. They also say that using this water helps reduce acne, blemishes, wrinkles and more. Now looking at the reviews of the people, we may think rice water is beneficial for the skin. However, hard evidence supporting this is still lacking.

Provide Sun Protection

The rice water contains some chemicals which help protect the skin from harmful UV rays.

How to Make Rice Water?

There are several ways of preparing it for the skin. Some of them are elaborated below.

Boiling Rice Water

Take a container and rinse the rice thoroughly. Fill the water in the container four times more than the rice. Stir them properly and let them boil. With the help of a spoon, press rice and extract all helpful chemicals. Now refrigerate the water in an airtight container for at least a week. Dilute the product with normal water before directly applying it to the skin.

Soaking Rice Water

Follow the same process as done in boiling rice water. But instead of boiling the rice and water, let it soak for 30 minutes by pressing the rice and sieving the water. Refrigerate it for the final product.

Fermented Rice Water

To prepare the same, use the same process for soaking the rice. But instead of refrigerating it, fill it in a jar and leave it at room temperature for 2 to 3 days.
