Ravindra Jadeja started the proceedings for India on Day 3 in Pune as New Zealand looked to add to the 301-run lead. Glenn Philips scored the first run of the day with an inside edge on the leg side. Lucky escape for Philips as the outside edge induced off Ravichandran Ashwin’s slider went between the wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and first slip fielder Rohit Sharma to the fence. Philips made full use of the reprieve by lifting Ashwin over the mid-off region for a boundary. He hit his third boundary of the day by slapping Ashwin into the backward region.

Ravindra Jadeja picked the first wicket in India vs New Zealand 2nd Test Day 3 by breaching the defence of Tom Blundell to shatter his stumps. It was his first wicket in this Test match. Akash, however, could not resist long as pulled a short ball off Ajaz Patel straight to Rachin Ravindra at long-on. Jasprit Bumrah swept Santner for six and four off successive balls. Ravindra Jadeja, however, was out in the next over as he could not clear a lofted shot he attempted against Ajaz Patel. Tim Southee took an excellent catch at long-on, inches away from the fence. India were bowled out for 245, losing the 2nd Test match to New Zealand by a whopping 113-run margin.
